Sophia Herbig is a versatile musician who is equally dedicated to chamber music and orchestral playing. She is principal 2nd violin with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and has been invited to play in this position with orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. She also plays in some of Europe's leading orchestras, such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Academy 2017-2019), the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic and Utopia.

Sophia has performed in various chamber music formations with wonderful musicians such as Lorenza Borrani, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Alina Pogostkina, Dmitry Smirnov and Rainer Schmidt. She also works regularly with the Ensemble Tamangur, Spira Mirabilis and Patrick Leung. She has performed at the Beethovenfest Bonn, Mozartwoche Salzburg, Pau Casals Festival, Innsbruck Promenade Concerts, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and Salzburg Festival. Her recordings and concerts have been broadcast by BR, WDR, ORF and Catalunya Musica. Highlights of recent years have been solo performances with the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg: Vivaldi's Primavera under the direction of Reinhard Goebel and Mozart's Serenata Notturna in several concerts alongside Lorenza Borrani, Roberto Gonzales-Monjas and under the direction of Manfred Honeck, Ivor Bolton and Maxim Emelyanychev. Sophia has also performed violin concertos by J. Brahms, F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, W.A.Mozart and A. Khachaturian alongside conductors Yoel Gamzou, Johannes Zahn, Simon Edelmann, Stefan Schilli and Ulrich Weder and with orchestras such as the Neue Philharmonie München, Chamber Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Academy and Sinfonietta Isartal. Her solo performances have taken her to venues such as the Philharmonie München, the Herkulessaal in Munich and the Kammermusiksaal of the Philharmonie Berlin. Rainer Schmidt, Wonji Kim-Ozim and Igor Ozim at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Lornza Borrani at the Scuola di Musica Fiesole, Meesun Hong-Coleman at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz and Sonja Korkeala at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich were all influential teachers.

For several years, Sophia has also dedicated herself to teaching and imparting musical and instrumental content both as part of masterclasses and orchestral projects. She has been a certified potential development coach according to Gerald Hüther since 2024.
